Dance Bio

 

Asmaa Zafeera (Angelica) is the founder of Desert Jasmin school of dance.

Dance Training:

Angelica's interest for an Arabic dance started from the time of her holiday to Tunisia in June 2006. After her return to UK she started a beginners' class with Chris Could in autumn 2006 and still learns the art of Egyptian dance with most recognised UK teachers such as Jo Wise and Charlotte Desorgher. Angelica is also a member of Chris' dance company 'Egyptianize'. 

Throughout these years Angelica attended a number of workshops with some of the best known teachers of the bellydance in the world: Mahmoud Reda, Farida Fahmy, Raqia Hassan, Fifi Abdou, Yousry Sharif, Aida Noor, Randa Kamel, Lubna Eman, Mohammed Kazafy, Leila Haddad,  Yasmina of Cairo, Beata & Horacio Sifuentes, Magdy el-Leisy, Aziza of Montreal, Jillina, Tatiana Nour, Elena Ramazanova, Alexey Ryaboshapka, Katia Eshta, Tito and Jim Boz.

Angelica is a qualified JWAAD Teacher. The JWAAD teaching diploma is recognised as being the most thorough and comprehensive course available in UK for those interested in teaching bellydance.

Performances:

Solo work has included dancing at dance parties (Haflas), showcases and Gala-shows  in UK, Egypt, Russia and Germany, participation in the number of dance competitions in UK, Russia, Ukraine and Latvia. Currently Angelica is also performing as a member of the troupe 'Egyptianize'.  Angelica is also a regular dancer at monthly showcase 'Arabesque Nights' at The Gunnersbury, in Chiswick, London.
